Tara Shanti - Kootenay Bay Accommodations
Over-looking Kootenay Lake on the East Shore
Our retreat center is situated on 5 treed acres over-looking Kootenay Lake with stunning views of Kokanee Glacier.
Guests have access to fully equipped guest kitchen, dining room, large living room with fireplace, patio and deck. There is a total of six rooms and one suite – each room is rented individually.
On the second level, there are six guest bedrooms in total, five with private ensuite bathrooms and the sixth with access to a shared bathroom across the common area. Three rooms face the west with beautiful views of the glacier and lake. The other two bedrooms face east and have morning sun plus views of the garden and the surrounding forest of mature trees.
Our newly constructed Waterfall Suite is equipped with a 3 piece bath and kitchen. It is located on the lower level with a separate entrance off a private patio. There are garden, lake and glacier views from the Waterfall Suite
Guests are free to use all common areas on the property including a large living room and dining room as well as the deck and patio.

Maggie Kavanagh is a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher. She has 20 years of teaching experience and was owner and operator of The Yoga Haven in Calgary, Alberta for 15 years.
Summer activities in and around Kootenay Lake include hiking, cycling, golfing, swimming, kayaking, sailing/boating, birding and fishing or just relax and enjoy the vistas. There are established Walking, Hiking and Biking trails and more being built all the time.
Wifi available with some restrictions. We hope the retreat setting will allow you to relax and renew.
Winter activities on the Eastshore can involve snowshoeing, cross-country and backcountry skiing as well as snowmobiling. For downhill skiing enthusiasts Whitewater is just south of Nelson so about 75 minutes away from Tara Shanti (including free ferry ride). There are also set tracks for snowshoeing as well as cross-country skiing at Whitewater
Beach and Swimming in Lake
There are many different beaches scattered along the East Shore with a large sandy beach at Crawford Creek Regional Park in Crawford Bay. Beaches and hikes abound on the west Shore as well with a free ferry ride across the lake (35 minutes).
Rooms include essentials as follows: Towels, bedding, bar soap and toilet paper. All guests have access to a fully equipped Guest Kitchen (includes 4 burner stove and standard size oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave).
Room rental is based on a two night minimum (four night minimum for the Waterfall Suite).
If the guest(s) cancel more than 30 days prior to the reservation, 100% refund – $20 cancellation fee.
